NLCC Mi'KMAQ #48
NLCC Mi'kmaq gets its name from the Canadian Tribal Class Destroyer HMCS Micmac.
The HMCS Micmac had a ship's crest depicting the Warrior-God Glooscap. His right hand holds the magic stone canoe which could expand to any size he wanted, while his left hand holds his tomahawk. Later, after the Second World War, the ship's crest was changed to a Fern, used by Glooscap to defeat his evil twin brother in battle. The Navy League Cadet Corps Mi'kmaq uses the original crest as their own and it can be seen on any of our Micmac cadet uniforms.
